Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How does the Duathlon transition zone and timing work?
A: The transition zone from run to bike and bike back to run takes place inside Lakeview arena. The clock does not stop running for changing shoes and getting your bike set. For example, if it takes you 5 minutes to change from run to bike shoes and 3 minutes to change back to running shoes from biking shoes, a total of 8 minutes is added to your run-bike-run times. Some racers will bike in their running shoes and decrease their transition time–and that is OK. The other thing to remember is that you cannot ride your bike in Lakeview, so you need to run it in and out.
Q: For the leisure events, are strollers OK?
A: Strollers are welcome. The leisure events are family friendly. You can bring your dog or cat too.
Q: Can I change my event after I register?
A: Yes, but only if you notify us no later than 10 days before the HSHC (so if you want to change 3 days before, we won’t be able to accomodate you). This is because a lot of behind the scenes work goes on to organize the timing chips, bibs and bags. Keeping chips, people and event organized is an important safety measure.
This is important: if you switch to an event with a lower registration fee, NO refund will be issued. If you switch to an event with a higher registration fee, you will need to pay the difference. (We have checked with other events, and this is a pretty standard policy).
Q: What is the raffle ticket in my bag for?
A: You will need to present the ticket in order to get a lunch.
Q: What can you tell me about lunch?
A: Subway is providing sandwiches. There will be ham, turkey and veggie sandwiches to chose from.
Q: How does the Duathlon team work?
A: The last runner wears the bib. The team shares the same timing bib and passes it from teammate to teammate.
Q: I registered, but I wasn’t able to attend. Can I still get my event bag and shirt?
A: The unclaimed bags will be at the Neurosurgery office window in the waiting area of the Brain and Spine Center within Marquette General Hospital. You can stop by during business hours, M-F 7AM-4PM.
