8-18-11. Dr. John Lawrence, postdoctoral fellow, will present a poster entitled, “β3-adrenergic agonists mimic eustress response and reduce leptin-mediated proliferation in a GBM cell line,” at the Society for Neuro-Oncology Meeting in Los Angeles, CA in November 2011.

8-17-11. Keith Sabin will present a poster entitled, “Glioblastoma derived exosomes contribute to tumor immune evasion,” at the Society for Neuro-Oncology meeting in Los Angeles, CA in November, 2011.

8-17-11. Vanessa LeBert’s work entitled, “PARP-1 Inhibition Enhances the Cytotoxic Effect of Temozolomide in Glioblastoma Cell Lines,” will be presented as a poster at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons meeting in Washington, DC, October, 2011.

8-9-11. Congratulations to Robert J. Winn, PhD, UMBTC  lab director on being named Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Northern Michigan University.

8-9-11. Congratulations to Ben Ayotte on being named the top summer intern at the National Institutes of Health. Ben is a student at NMU and works in the UMBTC  lab. This is a prestigious and well deserved honor. Ben, who is from Escanaba, MI, worked with Dr. Francesco Marincola. His project is entitled, “Co-distribution and co-localization analysis of NF-kB and IRF-1 in synchronized melanoma cell lines”.

8-9-11. Congratulations to Keith Sabin. Keith will be presenting research entitled, “Glioblastoma derived exosomes contribute to tumor immune evasion,” at the 16th Annual Society for Neuro-oncology Meeting in November in Los Angeles. Keith is continuing work started by Danny and Vanessa LeBert. Undergraduate Nick Cook is also working on this project.
