2-13-12. Laser confocal microscope used to image GBM on a molecular level. In the photomicrograph below, the blue color is the nucleus of the cell. The bright green dots are Gli1, a cancer causing protein. The role of Gli1, the hedgehog pathway and vitamin D in GBM is the subject of Justine Pinskey’s Master’s Thesis
8-9-11. Yellow fluorescent protein successfully transfected into U87 human glioblastoma cell line.
8-9-11. A Swedish led international team of researchers identify a genetic variation on chromosome 10 that predisposes people to meningiomas.
8-5-11. A Duke led multicenter team has identified two tumor suppressor genes mutated in oligodendroglioma. CIC is found on chromosome 19 and FUBP1 is found on chromosome 1.
